If you haven’t booked your summer holidays yet, do not fear, you are not the only one. We live in a time where you can grab a bargain and hit the beaches for half of the original price, which leaves most of us still shopping for the cheapest holidays and last minute deals at this time of the year.
Finding the latest deals and gaining from booking a last minute trip abroad can be a hard task and there are a few things that you must keep in mind on your search. How do you find one? How can you keep it cheap to maximise on your time out there? Read on below as I list some of the best ways to grab a last minute bargain.
Compare trip duration
If you are finding it hard to find a cheap trip away for the usual 7 or 14 night stay then why not play around with the dates and look for maybe a 12 day holiday. You may find that even though you are booking more time away, it can also work out better value for money and you also have extra time away!
Always be flexible
When looking for the best last minute offers you must always be flexible. Taking in consideration the time, day and date you are travelling will always help you to find the cheapest deals. I have found that travelling when others wouldn’t necessarily want to travel, for example, early morning or late at night will also reward you will lower travel costs. Travelling mid-week and during school term times will make your booking significantly cheaper than travelling during the school holidays and on weekends.
Consider all accommodation options
The cheapest holidays may not always be the one that offers the least amount of perks. Whether you look at self-catering, half-board or all inclusive, you can find deals and discounts within all board types. Self-catering trips are great for those who like to make their own schedule and save money by shopping at the local supermarket but all-inclusive trips are great for those wanting to budget for most of the holiday all at once. Research all board types and work out which will be the cheapest option for you.
A different way of thinking
If you are finding it difficult to find that last minute deal you have been looking for in the destination you love, then always consider other options. There are many incredible world destinations where you can have a great holiday abroad. Do some research and check out travel websites/blogs to find those holiday destinations not thought of. Prevent going over budget!
You may have found the perfect last minute trip but you must also consider other costs that may be added to your trip and in fact send you flying over your budget expectations. When booking a budget holiday you may also need to budget for holiday extras as well, for example, car hire, transport between accommodation and the airport, travel money and also insurance. Make sure you always check extra airline charges, which can be found on baggage in most occasions. Avoid being stung by these charges by reading the small print of your holiday deal as these charges and extra admin fess may skyrocket your budget. Last but no means least, be sure to research the area you will be staying in and check the cost of living there as you don’t want to be spending more than you have to.
