Turkey is a charming country and the Turks themselves are known worldwide for their great hospitality. Not only can you experience culture here but you will also be spoilt with a wealth of pristine beaches, nightlife and family activities.
When the Turkish city of Bodrum is mentioned online or in conversation, I usually think back to being between the age of 10 & 13 spending two weeks each year in the blistering heat with my parents and grandparents. From a young age I fell in love with Turkey and the people there. Whether you headed out on the Mediterranean Sea on a Turkish Gullet, go to a local restaurant or find yourself bargaining with the local market stall owners, you could feel the culture swallowing you and enchanting your mind.
I have such fond memories of walking around the bazaars and even befriending the local Ryan Giggs lookalike. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures to post with this blog article as they are in the hands of my ever-entertaining grandmother. Anyway, moving on… I feel now that I am a little older and a little wiser, along with many others in the world, that I am noticing the change that is happening over there at the moment.
It may have been that I was young and didn’t understand the love for booze fuelled holidays but Bodrum, for me, has become a celebrity and party destination instead of how I remember it being which was a place filled to the brim of amazing restaurants, local charm and oozing Turkish culture.
When it comes to Turkish nightlife, Bodrum is a city that does it very well. Whether you are looking for a quiet and subdued venue or for the famous open-air club, Bodrum has a place to suit even the fussiest of partygoers.
The open air Halikarnas nightclub lights up the cities skies long into the night with green lasers and some of the most spectacular lighting. This club has become an A-List stop when visiting Bodrum housing some of the worlds most famous celebs and DJ’s. If champagne and VIP booth aren’t striking your fancy, then maybe the amphitheatre-style dance floor will ignite your party mentality.
Like Marbella is known for its parties and yachts, Bodrum is also a hot destination for wealthy businessmen and owners of the world’s largest and most extravagant yachts. After a night hitting the shots and seeing the early morning sun rise there is no better way to cure that hangover with a lazy day on a yacht. These days were made for lazy times on your yacht, sipping on a cocktail or two and enjoying the luxury Jacuzzi with all of your peers.
From past experience flights to Bodrum are not too expensive compared to other high-end holiday destinations, but you will need to save up some serious cash if you are planning to enjoy every partying hour you are there.
